Manchester United stories will sell papers – regardless of whether they are truthful or not.
In recent weeks, the stories that have accumulated have sparked debate, but now, with such an emphasis on social media, the players are able to clear up these ‘stories’ quickly and easily – and reach a massive amount of fans when doing so.
First up is United’s star summer signing Angel Di Maria.
Paul Scholes, who famously shied away from social media – and the media in general, has spoken out about the winger. Scholes claims that Angel Di Maria ‘seemed unhappy’ at Manchester United, compared to how ‘happy’ he was at Real Madrid.
Di Maria himself is not on social media, but his wife Jorgelina is and after seeing Samir Nasri’s WAG during the World Cup, it is safe to say they can pack a punch.
She took to her Instagram page to say: ‘You are free to think what you want, but in fact, Angel is absolutely happy being in Manchester United… Buenas noches!’ Strangely, one might think his wife would know him a little better than a pot-stirring Paul Scholes.
Radamel Falcao has also been highlighted as having issues at Manchester United.
It was claimed that Falcao is struggling in training and vitally, having to ice his knee after every session. This is tied in with the constant rumours about his future and indeed fitness, and that United are backing out of a potential permanent deal for the forward – and no one seems to be able to accurately report on the Colombian’s future.
Falcao decided to Tweet about the situation, writing in almost Shakespearean English – or in the style of Free Translation.com: ‘One fool speculates. A few others lacking objectivity respond and millions believe lies. It is disastrous what a few fools can do.’ He then posted a photo on Instagram, claiming he is ‘ready to train with the best motivation.’
It is refreshing to see both footballers putting rumours to bed. Which player will be next – will Juan Mata quash rumours of his impending move in January? …Please?
