Five reasons Manchester United COULD survive without spending money this January

United are not actually doing too badlyLouis van Gaal succeeded in giving all Manchester United fans a heart attack when he claimed that the Red Devils might not be spending big this winter as many had hoped or, well, prayed.

The club have of course struggled with a huge amount of injuries this season and despite having a brilliant transfer window in the summer when it came to their attacking line up, the defence did not get the much needed injection of quality that was required.

Not only did the club say goodbye to a fair few long standing defenders, they also failed to replace them and kept the likes of Chris Smalling, which says it all really.

Obviously it therefore stands to reason that the club HAVE to bring in a couple of world class centre backs, but with Van Gaal admitting that the club will not enter the market this winter unless his top targets become available, we have taken a look at just if they can cope should those targets not become available.

Click on Paddy McNair to see just why we think Van Gaal might be able to cope without buying anyone this winter.

The kids have been better than the established players
