Celtic can breathe a sigh of relief as this former Arsenal man won’t face them in Europe

Does Podolski have a future after all?His time warming the bench at Arsenal left Lukas Podolski plenty of time to hone his social media skills and since making the move to Inter Milan on loan, it seems that those skills are only set to improve.

The forward agreed to the loan switch in the hopes that it would manage to give him some more first team football – but sadly for the Pole, he has been omitted from the Italian’s Europa League squad due to UEFA regulations and a decision made by Roberto Mancini that Xherdan Shaqiri would be more use to him when it came down to a choice between the two.

That only bodes well for Celtic who of course face a huge clash with Inter in the next round of the Europa League and with the SPL side now hitting form and really hoping to pull off one of the biggest shocks of the season by beating the Italians, one less forward to worry about can only be a good thing.

Inter have fallen from grace in a remarkable way since Jose Mourinho won the treble with the club and neighbours AC Milan haven’t managed to do much better. They are in the wilderness in Serie A and have no chance of the title this season – or the ones after that unless something changes rather dramatically.

Their players are not what they once were and the visitors to the San Siro know it. Inter may be a European giant still, but it is in name only – and it is that which will give Celtic the biggest hope as they approach the two legged affair and hope to come out of the other side with a place in the next round.
