shaun maloneyGiven he shone in his first two spells in Scotland, you can’t really blame Celtic for considering a third dalliance with Shaun Maloney.

The Wigan Athletic playmaker will be a free agent in the summer and according to the Daily Record, Ronny Deila is keen to bring him back to the club for a third time and given his contract with Wigan is set to expire in the summer, a move for the 31 year old could be a very real possibility.

Deila was asked about any potential move for the player who all Celtic fans know well and noted: ‘I am aware of all the Scottish players. Maloney is a good player and he is one we know about. He is at Wigan at the moment but we will wait and see.

‘I have seen him many times. He is a quick, creative player and he is a very good person with a great mentality.

‘He looks like a Celtic player.’

Given Celtic are in a fight for the SPL title and face a tough tie against Inter Milan in the Europa League, they could use a player like Maloney to give them that little bit of spark and creativity – not to mention the fact that he knows the club, their ethos and has proven time and time again that he can cut it at the highest level of Scottish football.

Celtic fans. Do you think that Maloney is someone you should be considering or has he had his chance at Parkhead? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
