Leeds United fans know that their side have three big issues this January.
They are desperate to get some points on the board, they are in dire need of a goalscorer but most disturbingly of all, they are currently trying to navigate their way around a ban on their transfer activity.
This of course makes things a whole lot more complicated than they need to be this January, yet the club have faced tougher issues than this and come out on top, and it has certainly not stopped them from making a wishlist for this transfer window.
The Scotsman seems to think that Leeds are unconcerned over their transfer embargo and will try and solve at least one of their big problems – their lack of goals – by convincing Celtic to part with Anthony Stokes before the close of the January window.
Stokes would be keen on a move back to England – although quite what Celtic would think of that remains to be seen, and whilst there is no doubt around Elland Road that they simply have to find a way to score more goals, the transfer embargo is certainly going to make any potential deal rather complicated.
A loan deal would be the only option available to Leeds at the minute with the option to make any deal permanent come the end of the season, which is conveniently also the conclusion of their transfer ban.
Stokes has been less prolific than he may have ideally wanted this season in front of goal, finding the back of the net eight times, yet the 26 year old has managed to rack up 29 appearances and is clearly a big part of manager Ronny Deila’s current plans, meaning any attempt by Leeds to try and force through a loan deal would have to be aided by the player.
