Juwon OshaniwaCeltic manager Ronny Deila has made no secret of the fact he is aiming to strengthen his squad this winter and it seems that at least one of the club’s potential January transfer targets has listened.

Left back Juwon Oshaniwa has all but packed his bags and made the trip to Scotland in order to sign for the club after making it very clear that should Deila be keen on him, a move is something he would relish.

The player spoke with The Scotsman and made his intentions fairly obvious, claiming: ‘My club have told me that Celtic have contacted them about me and said they were interested in me.’

That is a pretty clear indication that at least one of the two parties are keen on a move, and considering the defender claimed that it would be a ‘dream come true’ to play for the SPL side, it seems that a move could well be on the cards.

There is no denying that Celtic could do with strengthening their squad this term, and given they are not exactly flying as high as they would like – or more vitally, expect in the SPL, and after failing to get past the qualifying stages of the Champions League, winning their domestic league is the very least of their expectations.

The Europa League is also up for grabs, and that would be a huge coup for the Glasgow side, and Ronny Deila knows that with games coming thick and fast in the second half of the season, not to mention the fact they will face an awful lot of Thursday night games should they progress in Europe, a good squad is vital.

Oshaniwa is seen as someone who can strengthen the squad this season and given he is only 24 years of age, certainly has plenty of time to develop his game and hone his craft – and whilst he may only be playing in Israel at the minute, he has played for Nigeria 11 times and made four appearances during the World Cup last summer, meaning he is hardly a novice when it comes to big games.

The move would of course suit the left back given it would provide the chance to showcase his talent on a much bigger stage and considering his tender age and indeed price tag, it would suit Celtic as well.
