He is too good for the Captial One Cup CameoLiverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is hanging on to his job by the skin of his teeth should certain publications be believed and it seems that he has a rather good plan to fix the second half of the season.

The Reds are desperately searching for a new goalkeeper given all faith has been lost in Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones is showing exactly why he had spent the majority of his Liverpool career on the bench and it seems they have a rather good alternative in mind.

Petr Cech is the man in question, with the Chelsea keeper the man Brendan Rodgers wants to land for the remainder of the season according to Metro– and considering the Blues will not see Liverpool as title rivals this term, that may well be a brilliant idea.

There is no denying that a loan move to Liverpool would give Cech a chance to play football week in week out, but given Blues boss Jose Mourinho noted that there will be no ins or outs come the start of the transfer window, Liverpool may need to consider another option.

Mourinho has also made it very clear in the past that he is reluctant to send his players to rival sides but to consider the Reds direct competitors this season would be generous at best.

Rodgers and Mourinho of course have an excellent relationship and one has to imagine that the Northern Irishman will try to play on this to the fullest extent.

Memo Ochoa has been mentioned as an alternative and a £3 million deal is thought to be in the works but you can never quite count on a deal until it is finally signed, sealed and delivered.
