Chelsea started the first half brightly with a flurry of activity mainly around Sunderland’s box but as the match dragged on and Mourinho’s men found the challenge greater than expected they appeared to lose energy.
Earlier in the season Chelsea were beating teams with ease scoring several goals but apart from their recent 5-0 demolition of FC Schalke in the Champions League, Chelsea have slowed somewhat perhaps fatigued from their busy fixture list not to mention the heavy expectation weighing on their shoulders.
