United manager Louis van Gaal is conscious that his ex-apprentice Jose Mourinho has won domestic titles in four countries; England, Italy, Portugal and Spain while he has only won in three; Spain, Germany and Holland.
When asked whether that made the Chelsea manager superior Van Gaal answered ‘of course’.
Van Gaal and Mourinho have only met competitively twice; the Sunday game at Old Trafford and the 2010 Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan which the latter won.
The competitive Dutchman has set himself the goal of winning the Premier League with United which if he achieves he believes will make him ‘equal again’.
