Getafe CF v Club Atletico de Madrid - La LigaHe had only just come back from injury, and Chelsea fans looked like they were about to be handed a massive boost in their search a place in the Champions League final after Diego Costa was stretchered off against Getafe.

Sadly for Blues fans, the forward will make a full recovery from the horror gash he sustained in the weekend’s Liga game and start the semi-final tie – at least according to his manager.

Atletico Madrid of course had to do without their star forward in the second leg against Barcelona, yet David Villa was not too shabby, hitting the woodwork several times. Nor was Koke who bagged the goal that sent Diego Simeone’s men through.

Despite this, there is a reason Costa has become the most coveted man in Europe this season. He has been sensational, scoring against just about everyone and being a major part of the success the so called ‘second side’ from Madrid have had.

Jose Mourinho may have placed the forward at the top of his most wanted list, and be willing to pay a reported £50 million to land him, but he will not have been pleased to hear Simeone declare the forward will be fully fit for the clash between the two.

In true Simeone style, the Argentine claimed: “Costa is fine, he is happy,

“He made a great effort throughout. One more cut does not do anything to this tiger.”

Chelsea of course have their talisman Eden Hazard marked as a massive doubt for the tie, with the first leg looking like it will be too soon for the winger. The Blues will have to deal with the suspension of Branislav Ivanovic to boot, which could well see a return to the side for Ashley Cole.
