Tweet of the week – at least Demichelis is trending on twitter

demiThings are not going too well for Manchester City liability, sorry defender, Martin Demichelis, who saw red against Barcelona and was lucky not to be booed off the field by his own fans.

The defender may have been a ‘Pellegrini buy’ but he has not exactly instilled confidence, and has looked off the pace since coming to England. In fact, the best thing about him seems to be his half up, half down ponytail.

As soon as his name was read out on the team sheet against Barca, the Etihad Stadium faithful (who had just repledged allegiance from the darker blue of Chelsea after the FA Cup defeat) knew there would be trouble. They were right.

Demichelis did not deserve to give a penalty away – given his challenge was about three yards outside the box – but he did deserve to see red, and has now become a hashtag sensation because of it.

#ThingsFasterThanDemichelis quickly (see the irony there) trended on twitter and our pick of the bunch was from @DBurke_LFC, who tweeted:

Kolo Toure’s decision making process!”

We also enjoyed: @talkFOOTYBALL’s quip of “everything,” and indeed answers like ‘ the time it takes for John Terry’s morals to kick in’ and indeed ‘the Gareth Bale saga!’
