Will HughesThey may have lost a six pointer against Chelsea, but Liverpool returned to winning ways against Hull, and have some even better news if the Daily Mirror are to be believed.

Brendan Rodgers has reportedly agreed a ‘first option’ deal on Derby County midfielder Will Hughes, who has been impressing the big boys with his displays this season.

The starlet is seen by many at Anfield as the long term successor to skipper Steven Gerrard, making it even more important that the Reds are at the head of the chasing pack when it comes time for Hughes to make that step up.

It is a fair question to ask exactly how this has happened, and the answer is simple.

Rodgers has agreed to allow defender Andre Wisdom to spend the rest of the season on loan at Derby, obviously allowing for a lot of good will from the Rams and their board.

The England Under 21 International is highly rated and will be available to start the FA Cup game against Chelsea this coming weekend after the deal was struck between the two clubs.

Despite the loan deal, Hughes will still cost a pretty penny should Liverpool buy him, so it might be a good idea for Rodgers to save his Christmas bonus up!
