According to the Mail on Sunday, West Ham are interested in the services of 26 year old Hoffenheim striker Anthony Modeste.
Modeste previously (and by all accounts unsuccessfully) played for Blackburn Rovers, yet has averaged a goal every two games for his current club. His price tag is thought to be around £5million.
Anything in it?
Nope – I would be surprised if West Ham were actively seeking another striker.
We struggle to give enough playing time to the ones we have, leading to frustration and subsequent loans to our feeder club, QPR.
We’ve currently got Andy Carroll (4 goals and two assists in 836 minutes), Diafra Sakho (although currently injured, 7 goals and 3 assists in 1,024 minutes), Enner Valencia (3 goals and 3 goals in 959 minutes), and Carlton Cole (don’t hate – 2 goals in 433 minutes ain’t all that bad) – not to mention winger Stewart Downing who has notched up a stunning 4 goals and 7 assists in 1,782 minutes. Think we might be good here.
