Revenge is sweet – but Welbeck is not world class

The forward will probably see his performance as something to smile about and rightly so but he was gifted the goal and frankly has not been overly impressive since his move to Arsenal.

United are not where they want to be right now but to get there, Van Gaal needs world class players – and Welbeck is never going to be anything more than a workhorse who bangs in a goal every five chances.

The idea was for Falcao to shine up top this term for the Manchester side and while that has flopped rather dramatically, it is hard to imagine them being too much better off even if they had kept Welbeck.
