Jose didn’t really need to say much in the post match press conference after listing the four moments of the game that pretty much said it all – and even the Chelsea website got in on the act, elaborating to explain exactly what their manager was referring to – if there was any doubt.
Mourinho was kind enough to flesh out the four numbers on Sunday morning TV, explaining: ‘There’s no space for interpretation. It is a penalty or it is not a penalty. It’s far away. He [Kightly] is not one metre. He’s not a few inches. The ball hits the target if this is not a penalty. This is a penalty. You can say what you want.’
That was not all, with Mourinho making it clear there was only one way to interpret the decisions: ‘There are actions here, and clearly there is only one point of view. You are sometimes a bit disturbed when you have a clear caller, and that caller can disturb your opinion. I can’t imagine the four incidents are open to this interpretation.’
