leo messiNever had Chelsea fans been so interested in who was following them on social media, with rumours of a Lionel Messi move in the pipeline and a world shattering £500 million package on the table to lure the Barcelona player to Stamford Bridge.

However, after Barcelona beat defending La Liga campeones, Atletico Madrid, it seemed that everything was back to normal at the Camp Nou with Messi claiming that he had no intention of leaving the club he has spent his entire adult career at, branding the media stories ‘lies.’

However, things seemed to change literally overnight and quite what happened on the flight to Zurich we do not know, as Messi arrived at the Ballon d’Or awards and made it very clear that nothing was set in stone and his future could well be in England, Italy or Spain.

Speaking before the ceremony, Messi claimed: ‘I’m not sure where I will be next year. In the football world so many things can change overnight,

‘I’ve always said I will end my career at Barcelona, but as Cristiano [Ronaldo] says only God knows the future.’

Now we think that this is just another ploy by the creative star to put pressure on the Barcelona board in relation to his power struggle with manager Luis Enrique and the elections that are in the progress of being called – and in reality, Messi has no real intention of making a move to Chelsea, Manchester City or anywhere else.

Chelsea fans. Is Messi just trying to make sure that he gets Luis Enrique axed? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFootyettes.

No chance Messi leaves Barça, at not at the moment, who knows what these mind games he’s playing means. For £500m too maybe the first reported £200m. Although I would love him at SW6, even if only for the marketing and increasing the global reach of the club.
