As with the Brazil v Croatia match, questions were raised about the officiating during Mexico’s game.
The first half saw nothing but ‘offside’ goals, two of which were scored by Gio dos Santos.
The goals disallowed for Mexico seemed harsh, and the score line really should have finished 3-0.
The referee’s lack of cards were also an issue. Guardado was elbowed in the face, yet there was no card shown.
After only a few matches of the World Cup, officiating is coming under severe scrutiny – let’s hope there will be fairer refereeing throughout the rest of the competition!
