They have gone backwards

The fact that Liverpool’s squad has got weaker, not stronger during the off season is another key reason as to why they should be grateful for Europa League football. Losing former key players, such as club legend Jamie Carragher and long-time No.1 Pepe Renia, will surely have a negative effective on the quality of the side – especially since some of the replacements have ‘issues’ with their weight (by issues I mean taking your wife’s diet pills because you think you have a ‘fat belly’). Also many of the signings that have been brought in to ‘improve’ the squad are somewhat of a gamble, for example, the £7 million Iago Aspas has spent the vast majority of his career in the Spanish Segunda Division, whilst the same accusation can be labelled at another new boy Luis Alberto.
