Futher on to our brilliant African players, fellow Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o is also reported to be on West Ham’s hitlist.
At 33, Eto’o is no spring chicken, but the emphatic forward has scored four goals in twenty appearances this season for Everton – and may be content with not starting in every game, which could be ideal for West Ham’s rotating striker system.
Anything in it?
At the time of writing, Sampdoria have put an impressive offer on the table for Eto’o, rumoured to be around £1.7 million per year.
It’s a tempting offer, and one which a club who are expecting their season ticket holders to cough up a £75 season ticket deposit in mid-February may not be able to match financially.
