Just how far is Louis van Gaal to blame for Falcao’s Manchester United failure?

falcao 5What to do about Radamel.

That has been the debate for Manchester United fans this season – and it seems the forward has finally realised that Louis van Gaal had always known there was no future for him past the end of the season.

Falcao has now reportedly privately acknowledged that he has no chance of turning his season long loan deal at Old Trafford into a permanent one and will return to Monaco in the summer ready to plot his next move.

The forward has been disappointing at times this term, even he would admit that, yet the level of blame apportioned to Van Gaal when considering his demise this term has to be quite high.

Let’s remind ourselves that this is also the manager who moans about not having a 20 goal a season forward but utilises Wayne Rooney in the middle of the park – and then sees Rooney moved back up top and lo and behold, goals start to come.

Just as Van Gaal claimed Angel Di Maria’s sending off was the reason behind United’s loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup, blaming Falcao and Falcao alone for his problems at Old Trafford is simply misguided and an utter failure to look below the surface.

There is no denying that the Columbine’s second ACL injury in his short career has robbed him of a yard of pace – it would have been impossible not to – but Falcao is a natural and deadly predator in the box, someone who scores goals like British people drink cups of tea. Far too often – but this season, things have gone very wrong.

A lack of chances and frankly, no faith from his manager has robbed Falcao of the chance to really make anything of his move to United and while he happily took the ‘play for your future’ suggestion back in the summer, he would not have done so had it been made clear the chances would be few and far between.

Keeping him benched during the FA Cup tie and then expecting him to turn out for the Under 21s the following night showed exactly what Van Gaal thinks of him – and while Falcao was professional enough to play (and you could make a lengthy list of footballers who would have kicked up an almighty fuss to make Yaya Toure look positively anti birthday celebrations had they been in the same position) it is little wonder he failed to score and cut a lost and forlorn figure.

Falcao is no longer the forward who destroyed Chelsea in the Super Cup for Atletico Madrid but he is far better than the role Van Gaal has relegated him to – and football fans know it.

Manchester United fans. Do you think that Falcao has just been really hard done by or has he totally lost his goal scoring touch? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFootyettes.

Van Gaal is too old with his philosophy to foresee a player’s future prospects. Why is Vanpersie not performing well then?

Van Gaal is too old with his philosophy to determine a player’s prospects. Why is Vanpersie not performing well like he use to be under Sir Alex?

van gaal is just being to sentimental in d treatment of falcao,He has no faith in him at all,all Falcao needs is run of games 2 boost its confidence, wen Van persie was out of form,a total waste in games, yet he is always playing consistently,Van Gaal philosophy is costing man United games

Van Gaal should be blamed. Not played the same team.Mata when in the team from beginning was assisting and scoring.Falcao scoring or creating and getting a penalty not being played in the following games. There is no continuity therefore no rhythm flowing as a team.
    Van Gaal is at fault.

All it takes for a player to rediscover his form is to give him a good run of games .but falco is not being treated fairly as regard to that…I think van gal is to be blaim for that..falco has nothing to prove to any one again he is a top player no doubt about that.

I think United’s poor run of the season has to do with LVG’s filty decisions.

Making wrong changers at the wrong time, also making right changes at the wrong time.

He sould be relieved off his duty. He has notin to offer.

I bet you:if Moyes was opportuned to manage this present squad, we wud have done better.
