Football is a funny game. You can come painstakingly close to winning everything, only to end up with nothing.
You can also think that a game is impossible to win, only to overcome the greatest of odds.
That is why nothing is assured until the final whistle is blown and premature celebrations have seen teams and their fans trolled on more than one occasion.
You could forgive Celtic for getting ahead of themselves at least domestically, with a treble on the cards for only the fourth time in their history – and it could even get better with the Europa League up for grabs too.
Their players are being cautious and not giving too much away, but have made it clear that they feel it could be their time to make history.
Stefan Johansen was speaking about the mood around the squad and claimed: ‘I feel how close we are to doing something special.
‘We have a final and now we are in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
‘The league is also going to be very tough but we are in everything and I believe if we take one game at a time it’s the best thing to do.’
The club are strong favourites to land the SPL title once again, yet will know that in knockout competitions, anything is possible. Just as they will harbour hopes of beating Inter Milan in the Europa League and progressing as the underdogs, their opponents in domestic cup competitions will see themselves in the same way – and that is something that cannot be forgotten.
Celtic have the fans and stadium to make a splash on the world stage and they would like to think they have the manager and the players. It could well be the greatest season in their recent history – if they play their cards right.

So where did Johansen actually state that Celtic might end up winning nothing? Or is that the reporter ‘paraphrasing’ ?
