Has the relationship between Newcastle United player Cabella and John Carver already soured?

Remy CabellaWhen Alan Pardew left Newcastle United for Crystal Palace, it seemed that at least one Magpie was happy.

Remy Cabella sung the praises of promoted head coach John Carver and made it clear that he was happy under Carver and willing to give it his all on the pitch.

That was music to the ears of the Toon Army, with Cabella promising such talent but not really delivering under Pardew – and it seemed that a new start might be ideal for everyone concerned.

That does not appear to be the case, and after seeing Cabella react rather poorly to being taken off against Stoke City, Carver made it very clear that such behaviour would not be tolerated – and things would have to change.

The head coach did not mince his words when claiming: ‘Everybody has to be patient for their chance.

‘If you have to come off and somebody else goes on, don’t be disrespectful to your team-mates.

‘The important thing is we are working as a group, not 11 players.

‘It’s a squad of 22 or 23 players. It’s important they know that.’

Whilst the comments are fairly obvious ones to make, they do say  quite a bit about Carver and his strength – many managers would have avoided the question or deflected an answer, but not Carver, and Cabella to his credit made sure to respond in the appropriate manner with his comments, claiming it would not happen again and he would give it his all on the field.

It is not much, but at least it is a start, and at least the fans know that their boss will speak mind – and the players will know where they stand for once.

Newcastle United fans. Is this strength from Carver something that you will need if you want to finish in the top ten this season? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
