Five things we learnt about Manchester United after lucky escape against West Ham

With Manchester City dropping points in their clash with Hull City, it was the perfect opportunity for Louis van Gaal and Manchester United to close the gap on their rivals.

It was never going to be a simple task against high flying West Ham United, who at one point were chasing a place in the top four themselves and it is never an easy game at Upton Park, injury crisis or not for the Hammers.

Despite their best efforts, Manchester United left Upton Park with just a single point and were lucky to even manage to come away with that – making the battle for the top four even tighter.
