Ideally Spurs would like to come away with a win in the second leg – that might not be possible so they will simply have to match Fiorentina on goals and hope the away goals rule works in their favour. A 2-2 draw on the night and a 3-3 on aggregate would send them through.
On the evidence from the first leg, Spurs are more than capable of netting that all important goal to cancel out Fiorentina’s away goal – let’s face it, if Soldado can score, anyone can.
Away goals are vitally important in Europe, and Pochettino’s side need to break the deadlock early to give themselves the best chance of going through.
