The fact that a 0-0 home draw against West Bromwich Albion was seen as a positive result for Sunderland speaks volumes about their season so far and how bad it has been.

The Black Cats have seen their home games become almost certain losses and at times their lack of spark and forward play has been dire to watch.

Manager Gus Poyet refuses to entertain the notion that he may be part of the problem and has an impressive amount of people to blame, ranging from the press to the fans – and does not seem to realise he is walking a rather shaky tightrope at the minute.
