That might have been good news for the Hoops, but it was terrible news for Gus Poyet and his men who are now looking rather nervously over their shoulders, with the drop zone getting ever closer.

Things are not on the up for the Black Cats, despite it looking like that was the case at one time – but now things are as bad as ever. They may hope Jermain Defoe can score the goals to keep them in the top flight but on their most recent performance, it will be a struggle and here are five things we learnt from Sunderland’s performance.
