Gareth SouthgateFinally Paul Lambert has been given the boot by Aston Villa, and while the fans are more than happy to see Lambert leave, they are puzzled over the timing of the departure – feeling it may have come far too late to even matter at all, but now it has happened, thoughts are obviously turning to who can succeed him at the club.

Villa might be in relegation trouble, but there is no denying they are a huge club with a massive fan base and one of the best stadiums in the country – and they are a decent prospect for the vast majority of managers out there.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at five men who might want to replace Lambert at Aston Villa and save their season.
