lennonThere is absolutely no denying that one of the moves of the whole transfer window, and not just deadline day, was that of Aaron Lennon to Everton.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger agreed the loan move to Merseyside after both Spurs and he decided that it was beneficial to see what could happen with six months away from each other, and with a host of suitors after Lennon, including Stoke City and Hull City, Everton were the club who convinced Lennon they were the ones for him.

Everton have stalled this season and could well do with some much needed pace and creativity in the final third at times – not that Roberto Martinez would probably admit it to the media – and they are not the club we enjoyed watching last season, struggling for goals and points at times, even at Goodison Park, where they are usually so formidable.

Lennon meanwhile is desperate to get some actual game time and exert some influence on a side after falling seriously down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino, and the player himself may love Spurs and north London but was fully aware that a move was needed, even if it is only for six months in order to really kick start his career.

Both Everton and Lennon have something that the other needs, and should Roberto Martinez manage to bring the best out in the Englishman, they could well have a very good deal on both of their hands.

Everton fans. How excited are you to see Lennon at the club? Can he make a real difference to you in the final third of the season? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
