Sunderland might miss out on Salah but there is good news ahead for the Black Cats

stadium of lightSunderland may have been dealt a blow by the news that Mohamed Salah could well be staying at Stamford Bridge this January, but their recruitment is not over by a long shot.

In a climate where most clubs have to count every penny they spent, the Black Cats are in the fortunate position of being able to buy without necessarily having to sell any of the players they have at the minute.

Poyet made it very clear that his side did not have to sell before they brought in players when asked if that was the case claiming: ‘No, no.

‘But that can help for other things.

‘The idea is to add something to the squad.

‘And then if someone wants to leave or not, you might have an opportunity because of the shape of the team.

‘You have to be on standby because you don’t know if anything happens or not.’

Now as we know, the January transfer window is not the best time to really be splashing the cash on players – there have been some high profile flops in the past and players are generally overpriced – but the Black Cats are in need of a forward who can actually put the ball in the back of the net with Jozy Altidore someone who has been linked with the exit door.

One player who does not seem to be going anywhere however is Danny Graham, who despite being linked with Wigan seems to be staying at the club, and according to his manager, is fitter and sharper than ever and ready to bring something new to the side.

Sunderland fans. Who do you want to see come into the club this January? Where do you need to strengthen most? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFoootyettes.
