If Sunderland manage to land Chelsea’s Salah on loan, it would be a HUGE coup

Mohamed SalahFor a player who has been worse than awful at times this season, Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah is amassing an impressive list of suitors who are all vying for his signature should he be allowed to leave Chelsea for a loan spell in the second half of the season.

Well, we say ‘be allowed’ but really we mean ‘gets shoved out.’

Salah has become the latest in a long line of players, both creative and defensive, to end up on the scrapheap after joining one of football’s big boys and failing to break into the team or take the chances handed to them.

Salah did initially look impressive, and even scored a couple against Chelsea for Basel, but that is where his resume ends. Now he is a professional bench warmer and that is when he is lucky enough to make the squad.

However, just because he could not cut it in west London, it does not mean he will not be able to work his magic in the Premier League – he is the Egyptian Messi after all.

The latest club to express their interest in the winger seems to be Sunderland – and what a coup that would be for the club.

An injection of pace and trickery in the second half of what is a long season could well be the difference between finishing in the bottom or the top half of the table – and Gus Poyet knows it.

The Black Cats do not exactly have a huge amount of cash to splash in the January window, making a loan move perfect for them and Salah, who is in desperate need of game time as the season progresses and his career stalls.

Queens Park Rangers and Inter Milan are also thought to be keen on Salah, yet Chelsea old boy Poyet could well find himself leading the chasing pack as he looks to secure a player to kick his team on and up the table.

Sunderland fans. Do you think that Salah could really make an impact for you in the second half of the season? Let us know your thoughts below, become a guest blogger or tweet us @LaFootyettes.

Just why/how will it be a coup and how do you know that SAFC don’t have much money to “splash?”
