Is Arsene Wenger the problem or solution for Arsenal?

wengerArsenal fans may as well adopt the theme tune to the hokey cokey for their attitude to Arsene Wenger, with Wenger In, Wenger Out, Wenger shake it all about the never ending tune at the club these days.

Winning the FA Cup and securing fourth place in the league last season was a massive coup for Wenger and the fans were elated – showing how far their expectations have fallen in all honesty – and whilst it looked like things were about to go well for once at the north London club, the season has taken a massive dive and Wenger has conceded the title in November.

Now for a club of Arsenal’s stature, that is simply unacceptable no matter how you look at it.

Manchester United may have been God awful this season at times but you have never once heard Louis van Gaal concede that they could not challenge for the title. In fact, acting skipper Robin van Persie even claimed they could WIN it a couple of weeks ago.

Now that might not be the case, but it is a winning mentality, and it is one that Arsenal and their manager sadly no longer have.

Wenger has been a legend at the club and deserves a huge amount of respect for not only what he has done but also the way he has done it – but these days it is becoming a sorry sight to watch. A sad encore whilst the fans call for the final curtain to swing on his time with the club – and who can blame them.

Going at the end of last season might have been the best option for Wenger, retiring on a high after wining the FA Cup and moving on to one of the clubs courting him.

That was not to be, with the Frenchman choosing to stay and spending his summer missing out on a variety of targets as per usual and passing up on the chance to resign Cesc Fabregas in order to keep Mesut Ozil happy. Mesut Ozil who he decided would look good on the left wing.

Even the deadline day signing of Danny Welbeck was not Wenger’s choice, with the manager in Rome for a charity game.

In fact, the only good thing done by the Arsenal boss this summer was to bring Alexis Sanchez to the club, who has quite frankly been the only good thing about the Gunners this season – and that has only been down to Sanchez preferring to live in London rather than Liverpool.

Without him, you dread to think what position Arsenal would be in.

Wenger is now under huge criticism, not only from the fans but also the press, and he has entered into a war of words with Paul Merson after seeing his side squander a three goal lead in Europe and lose to Swansea days later. Not ideal.

In fact, the next couple of months will be make or break for the long serving manager.

The Gunners may have injury issues yes, they may have players out of form, they may even be at a financial disadvantage when you look at the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City but the fact remains. Wenger does not look like he knows what he is doing most of the time – and even the Arsenal board will only afford him a certain amount of time while the club fall further and further behind their ‘rivals.’

If the club are not careful, they will end up like their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, more preoccupied about beating their neighbours than actually winning a title.

Hi , I am very disappointed with arsenal Wenger, we are where we are because our manager put this team t gether , this team is not good enough they are not even AA championship side . We are now facing Southampton and United and we will b beaten, this is not players fault , this is arsene , as in any work place a team is only as good as its leader, I am gone from being cross t being very sad about my club, I loved travelling t London t see my team but now I don’t care there is no fight in this squad .

My club will not make any changes in management as our stadium is full for every match, and that is all that matters, if t fans emptied t stadium t board would take some action . So fan’s while your filling t seats things will remain as they are

Any Manager who wilfully plays such midgets-and mediocre players at best-as Monreal,Flamini,Cazorla match after match, often out of position and in the most vital defensive position the lumbering and now ineffective Mertesacker truly needs his head examined. Surely there MUST be a number of top,top youngsters in our Youth Academy quite apart from Bellerin who could do the jobs of the above at least 50% better. What about Gnabry,Hayden, Zelalem and others?

I have been a loyal fan for 50 years. I do not EXPECT another team such as our Invincibles but I do hope for a strong, physical squad capable of standing up to teams such as Chelsea who literally trample the teams we put out quite apart from having technically better players in almost every position. I have no shame about being one of the Gunners’ Wenger Out brigade!

I am sad that my previous attempt seems to have been cancelled. Surely I have every right to criticise a Manager/Coach?? who appears to put his trust in physically challenged players put in positions on the pitch which requires the likes of Viera and Pettit and get the exact opposite!

I just cannot believe that the likes of members of our Youth Squad such as Hayden,Gnabry Campbell,Zelalem etc are not considered worth a run in the teams we send out. Why bother to spend so much time and money on our Youth Academy if we dont assess them against some of the top PL sides? Surely our loyal but let down fans would delight in seeing such players as above showing their skills in the highest company?

After nine years of trophiles Wenger should known that he led Arsenal as long as he could and hid understanding to football and its management belong to the past . He should stop destroying Arsenal and go peacefully.
