The first time Manchester City were asked to defend their Premier League title, they did it so badly it cost manager Roberto Mancini his job.
On their second time of asking, history could be set to repeat itself once again with Manuel Pellegrini walking a tightrope after seeing his side fall eight points behind Chelsea and facing an uphill battle to get out of their Champions League group to boot.
Whilst things are not going so swimmingly for the defending Champions it could be worse and their star man Sergio Aguero is doing his very best when it comes to carrying the team.
Argentine Aguero aside, we have taken a look at five reasons it has not gone as planned for Manchester City this season.
