At least Richards knows his penalty sits alongside Sergio Ramos’ on the moon

Anyone who saw it does not even need to ask. It was one of the worst penalties in recent memory.

When Micah Richards placed that ball down with such purpose and stepped up, it is doubtful that even he would have expected it to end in such a manner.

After striking the ball, well about as poorly as possible without doing an Arsenal and missing it all together, Richards caught it at the wrong angle and sent his penalty kick to the moon.

You may remember Sergio Ramos taking a fairly similar penalty for Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich a few seasons ago – and the defender, who can also play at right back or in the heart of the defence, rightly got crucified for it on social media.

Well, if this viral is to be believed, Richards is getting fairly similar treatment and we cannot help but laugh!
