Chelsea have finally allowed Romelu Lukaku to leave – and not on loan this time – as the Daily Mail report that Everton have landed the forward after making a bid of £28 million.
That makes Lukaku the all time record signing for Everton and one that manager Roberto Martinez thinks will really push the Toffees up to the next level – and even fire them to a top four finish in what looks like being the most competitive Premier League in recent years.
Chelsea meanwhile have pocketed a pretty penny for the Belgian and are happy to face the up and coming season with Diego Costa, Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres – although how many goals the latter will score is certainly a point of contention.
As one of our Footyettes notes, it became fairly clear that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho did not see Lukaku at the club as his managerial reign continued – and the two have clashed several times off the field, and we all know that there is only one way – Jose’s!
Chelsea fans. Is this a massive mistake or have Everton paid well over the odds for a player who has not yet proven himself? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
