herreraManchester United’s pre season tour has kicked off in America.

The Red Devils faced MLS side LA Galaxy, beating the Americans by a hefty margin of 7-0.

Danny Welbeck got on the score sheet first after thirteen minutes.

Two goals then came from Wayne Rooney – one from the penalty spot following a hand ball incident.

Two followed from 20 year old defender Reece James – who has certainly made headlines in the wake of the full time whistle and, believe it or not, two goals were scored by Ashley Young. Is there life in the flop yet? Time will tell.

The big talking point of the game was new signing Ander Herrera.

Herrera’s first game saw him contribute to the majority of the goals, and he was named Man of the Match.

All eyes are on the 24 year old Spaniard in the build up to the new domestic season, with players who move from Basque sides known for their struggle when settling in a new country – just ask Fernando Llorente.

From the display Herrera produced however, that does not look like being a concern for the United faithful.

United will play AS Roma on the next stop of their tour in Denver. The match will take place on the 26th of July with key players yet to join the squad, giving the likes of Rooney et al a chance to show Van Gaal what they can do.
