Fred and Mertesacker will be hoping that slow and steady win the race!

The first semi-final of the World Cup is here and we cannot wait for it to come around.

Brazil, the hosts, will be taking on the ever clinical Germans for a place in the final and both are desperate to get through.

For once, Brazil have come in for a fair bit of stick when it comes to their attacking play and without Neymar, it is the man who has drawn more criticism than most, Fred, who is left to lead the line.

He will come up against Arsenal and Germany defender Per Mertesacker, who as we know from watching him in the Premier League, is not the quickest of  gazelles and it does not look like being one of the better battles we have seen between a forward and defender this tournament!

Of course, the unforgiving internet and social media platforms have caught onto this and we have found a rather hilarious picture of what one account thinks depicts the battle between Fred and Per most accurately.
