Alexis Sanchez - ChileIt has finally happened – and a fair few weeks earlier than usual too. Arsene Wenger has actually signed a top player and has splashed a fair bit of cash to do so according to BBC Sport.

The Arsenal boss has handed £35 million over to Barcelona in exchange for winger Alexis Sanchez, and Arsenal seem to think they have got themselves a fairly good deal.

One of our Footyettes notes that at least it is something to keep them from moaning about Chelsea landing Cesc Fabregas, and whilst that is true, it is also a cracking addition to their squad.

Sanchez has managed to score 47 goals in 141 appearances for Barcelona and looks set to take the Premier League by storm, certainly feeling that he has something to prove after leaving the Camp Nou.

He also has his best years ahead of him at 25 years old – and that is just young enough to see out the majority of his long term contract – thought to be worth around £150,000 per week – and then make a move to Manchester City!

Arsenal fans. Do you think this is the signing you needed to follow on from the FA Cup success of last season? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
