Riccardo MonotlivoIf you have been following any kind of World Cup preparation whatsoever, you will know that there are not only five players who will be missing the World Cup with injury, but enough to make two fairly decent starting elevens – and who would probably give some of the countries in the competition a run for their money.

Not only have there been players who have dropped out of contention for the final 23 man squads throughout the league season due to injury – Theo Walcott and Christian Benteke are just two of the Premier League stars who picked up massive injuries to rule them out of a place in Brazil, but there have been a rather alarming number of late withdrawals from various squads as well.

It seems that the pre World Cup training camps may well be causing more problems than they are solving with seemingly more players every day pulling out due to injury.

With that in mind, here is a look at five players who have been ruled out of the World Cup with late injuries.
