Tweet of the week – Former Real Madrid man trolls Bayern

Real Madrid may have been slight favourites going into the Champions League semi-final but even the likes of Carlo Ancelotti would not have expected the eventual downing of Bayern Munich.

For anyone who did not watch the game, not only were Real Madrid and star man Cristiano Ronaldo simply awesome going forward, Bayern Munich were also rather poor and indeed devoid of ideas.

Whilst we will stop short of getting on the Pep Guardiola has ruined the defending Champions, we will admit they looked a shadow of their former selves.

Of course, after a huge event in football these days there is only ever going to be one response – the subsequent trolling on twitter – and there were a fair few decent viral images to beat even ‘that’ Gerrard slip at Anfield.

After some careful consideration, we feel that the best of the bunch came from former Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro, who of course was the only defender in the history of the Ballon d’Or to lift the coveted individual award.

Given his links to Los Blancos – not to mention his history as one of the best defenders ever to grace the game – we think that Cannavaro was well within his rights to tweet this picture and accompanying caption of ‘#HalaMadrid’ after the game!

Did the result shock you? Was this worse than losing a final in their own back yard to Chelsea in 2012? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
