BrendanRodgersBrendan Rodgers has committed his long term future to Liverpool according to BBC Sport and that is not something we are particularly shocked at.

The Northern Irishman has been brilliant this term and certainly one of the managers of the season – and to be rewarded with a new deal not only makes sense in terms of the manager’s performance but also for Liverpool themselves.

Keeping hold of someone who understands the club and what they stand for, not to mention who can bring in right players and indeed use them correctly is not an easy task as previous managers have learnt.

The 41 year old spoke after penning his new deal and claimed: “I am both humbled and privileged to be offered the chance to extend my stay at this great club,

“I am very happy to build on the foundations we have built over the last two years.”

One of the biggest tasks ahead of Rodgers seems to be that of keeping Luis Saurez and also ensuring that their return to the Champions League is a successful one.

Do you think that Liverpool were right to offer Rodgers a new deal or is that a bit premature after one season challenging for the title?
