1111sunWe doubt there would be anyone who could even find half a reason to disagree that Sunderland have simply been outstanding this week.

The Black Cats looked like they were dead and buried – on their way to life in the Championship next season and having to face both Manchester City and Chelsea at home in the space of five days certainly seemed like it would push them that little bit closer to the drop.

Well that was not to be and Poyet’s men managed to dent not only Manchester City’s title hopes by managing a draw at the Etihad Stadium courtesy of two Connor Wickham goals, but they also downed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

1111sunThat would be impressive anyway, but the fact that the Blues had not lost in a massive 77 home league games under Jose Mourinho made it just that little bit more jaw dropping.

Despite going a goal down Sunderland managed to take advantage of the fact Chelsea had to turn to back up goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer -who was at fault for the Wickham equaliser – and even managed to scrape all three points courtesy of a very late and very dubious penalty.

The Black Cats have now not only managed to give themselves a chance at avoiding the drop, but they have also given Liverpool a great boost in their race for the league title.
