Arsenal consider swoop for Williams?

williamsArsenal fans are looking up hopefully here at La Footyette headquarters, as Metro claim they are  finally considering swooping for a defender.

The player in question is Ashley Williams, who is of course the current skipper of Swansea.

The centre back has been linked with both the Gunners and also Liverpool, and given the perilous form of the Swans this season, a move could well be on the cards.

Should Swansea get relegated, odds are certainly favourable when it comes to Williams looking for a move this summer, and long term suitors Arsenal are leading the chase.

A move to London would be something the player would consider and now at 29 years of age, it is now or never when it comes to a so called ‘big money transfer’.

The Gunners can also offer him the prize of Champions League football (they hope), and that is something that Swansea certainly will not be able to do.

From Arsenal’s point of view, they certainly have to bring in another defender and given their fondness for getting hammered by big sides, a player to help stop that would be welcomed.

Is Williams good enough for Arsenal or is this yet another wrong move for Wenger? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
