Looking more and more impressive with every passing game, Adam Johnson is showing exactly why we did all rave about him once upon a time.
The Sunderland player may not have cut it at Manchester City, but has gotten his head down and is enjoying a new lease of life in the North East.
He was instrumental in the third successive derby win against Newcastle United for the Black Cats, and won the praise of his manager as well.
There are even whispers that the player could well be in line for a shock call up to the World Cup, and given his performances of late, we cannot be all that surprised.
Johnson himself claimed: “Of course I have missed international football. It’s the best thing of all to play for England. A few months ago I didn’t think I have a chance, but maybe I do now. It’s a good time to do it.”
Will his performances get him a spot on that plane to Brazil? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
