ozil perOk, so we at La Footyettes headquarters have a confession to make. The winner for this week’s social media post is not exactly a tweet. It is a Facebook post, and once you see it, you will understand why.

After a rather disappointing week for Arsenal, losing to both Napoli and Manchester City, the Gunners were further enraged after Mesut Ozil failed to applaud the traveling fans at the Etihad Stadium.

The midfielder, who is an active social media user, was immediately berated by Per Mertesacker. The German was Arsenal’s skipper for the match, and made it perfectly clear just how Ozil needed to behave in future.

Ozil, to his credit, immediately took to his Facebook page to apologise, and posted on his official page:

“Sorry I didn’t thank the fans at the end of the game,

“You have been brilliant to me and I know you had travelled a long way and  spent your money to support us.

“I was upset with the result and know I should have come to you to say ‘thank  you’ and I know it is a big Arsenal tradition win, lose or draw.”

Would you forgive the £42 million record signing after his grovelling apology? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
