Chelsea skipper set for contract extension

jtAfter his performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, which included some last ditch stunning defending, Chelsea fans no doubt feel that John Terry deserves to stay at the Bridge until the end of his career.

The Daily Mirror will become their new favourite paper if that is the case, given they think that Chelsea are about to offer a new deal to the defender.

A one year deal is about to be put on the table for the skipper, who has always been a fan favourite at the club, despite his off the field issues, and who sees himself as ‘Mr Chelsea.’

The reason for a one year deal being offered and no more than that is down to the fact that Chelsea have now adopted a policy of only offering a maximum of 12 months extra to the players in their squad over 30.

Terry turned 33 at the start of the month and has suffered from injury issues and also a lack of form in the last couple of seasons.

Since the arrival of Jose Mourinho however, that has not been the case, and Terry has shown a new lease of life.

Mourinho trusts the defender who was an ever present during his first spell at the club and it looks like history is repeating itself once again.

Will JT pen a new deal despite Rafa Benitrez trying to force him out last term? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
