cardiff v utdxAfter the International break Manchester United travel to Wales to play Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds were promoted to the Premier League this season so will be relishing the chance to play a team such as Manchester United in their own back yard; their last meeting being in 1975!

Cardiff City have been absent the League for 51 years and will be looking to stay in the top flight longer than just one season. And what a reintroduction it has been for them.

In their first few months of Premier League life they have not had the easiest of starts, having to deal with issues such as rebuilding their squad, fit for this new challenge and a higher level of media scrutiny. Not to mention a rather unpopular owner.

After eleven games Cardiff City are currently in 14th position with three wins and five losses. The Bluebirds, now wearing red at home, will then play current top of the table Arsenal the following weekend.

United will be looking to take all three points before tough games against Tottenham Hotspur and then Everton. The Reds are currently sitting in 5th with twenty points -the same as Spurs and Everton but with a marginally better goal difference.

The Red Devils seem to have found some momentum and are on a run of eight unbeaten games, the last being their 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford.

United went in front through a Robin van Persie header at the 27th minute and managed to hold on collecting all three points.

Unfortunately just when they seem to be climbing the table United have begun to face some defensive issues with players such as Michael Carrick and Phil Jones out with injuries.

Marouane Fellaini continues to play with a wrist injury and has been advised to undergo surgery sometime in the future, though some speculate that his lack lustre performances are down to this continuing problem which only medical attention can cure.

Some good news for United fans is talk of the club negotiating a new contract for striker Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez has expressed a desire for regular football, something currently denied to him due to the effective strike partnership of Van Persie and Wayne Rooney. United fans will have to wait for Sunday to see if he starts on the pitch or on the bench.

Will it be the defending Champions or the new boys who take the points? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.

Think this article is OK, but would have benefited for being a joint venture with Sarah Price.
Its full of interesting player information about Manchester United, but lacks completely on the Cardiff City angle.

A missed opportunity to have created a great article

United are just slightly above run of the mill these days……. RVP and Roo excepted of course from initial comment…… Cardiff Blues/Reds… if they keep manager should survive due to home form…… 1-1 prediction.
