Can AVB get back on track or will the Champions be a step too far?

Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra netted United’s two goals, but each time the Red Devils went in front Cardiff came back into the game with goals from both Frazier Campbell and Kim Bo-Kyung, the last being in the 91st minute to end the match 2-2.

Cardiff are surely happy to have taken a point especially as United had a last gasp chance to capture all three points when Rooney was in front of goal but unselfishly tried to pass to Danny Welbeck which instead gifted it to the keeper.

The draw leaves Man U in 6th position and seven points behind leaders Arsenal.

So next up for defending champions Manchester United comes struggling Spurs, who seem to be in freefall.

The Lilywhites have rebuilt their squad this season, spending big to do so, with the entrance of big name signings like Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado who are looking to fill the void that Gareth Bale left. Not an easy task.

Tottenham have not made the best of starts with six wins and two draws from twelve games and must be feeling even worse after their 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City last weekend. It will be interesting to see if Spurs go into this important league match fairly cautious or fighting for the win.

With the youngest manager in the Premier League – Andre Villas-Boas is a very youthful 36, Spurs have made it their number one ambition to claim one of the four Champions League places, with last year finishing 5th and the one before that ending a very respectable 4th. Chelsea’s miracle in Munich aside, all would have been rosy at the Lane.

Spurs know if they are to continue attracting big name players then Champions League football is highly important. This season there looks to be roughly six teams hoping to clinch those four places, which should result in an interesting conclusion. Hopefully we’re in store for a dramatic final League day!

Although Spurs had a terrible last game in the League, I believe they have the ability to put real pressure on United and come away with all three points.

Last season United only managed to take one solitary point from a possible six after their two meetings, so the Red Devils will need to make full use of any opportunities that come their way and not be as wasteful as they were with Cardiff City.
