Stunned was not the word here in La Footyette headquarters after the last gasp victory by Real Madrid in their game against Levante on Saturday night.
Whilst the conditions may have been slightly better than the fixture last season –which Mesut Ozil dubbed like playing a water polo match – unfortunately for Los Blancos fans, the performance was not.
After defending that can only be described as comical at times, the club were staring down a second consecutive defeat. Not exactly the best way to wrestle the title back from Barcelona really.
That was all before a rather dramatic last five minutes. Firstly, Alvaro Morata came back to haunt Levante again. After grabbing the winner last season in the 84th minute, he looked to have grabbed the equaliser to split the points in injury time.
Of course this was before Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up. The forward was once again the difference for Real Madrid, winning them all three points in the 94th minute.
The goal, the celebrations and Ronaldo’s reaction showed exactly how much the win meant to the club, and Ronaldo chose to celebrate by taking his shirt off. He received the mandatory yellow card, but did not look too bothered. Nor would we be if we had less than 10% body fat and looked like that!
The Footyettes who were not losing their dignity celebrating the winner were staring open mouthed at the torso displayed by the Portuguese skipper. As the picture below shows, you can’t really blame us.
He might not beat Messi to the Ballon d’Or, but there is no contest when it comes to their torsos. Do you agree? Let us know your thoughts below or tweet us @LaFootyettes.
