FellainiQuite how Manchester United fans feel after the transfer window has slammed shut remains to be seen but the Daily Mail report there are has been some business.

The Red Devils have signed one of their targets, but massively missed out on another. Add to this rumours of a last gasp approach for Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao and also the summer long chase for Leighton Baines which turned out to be a none starter, and it seems that it was a bit of a mixed bag.

To begin with the good news, the club have finally signed former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini and have paid £27.5 million for him. As we all know David Moyes is a massive fan of the player and will hope the Belgium international will display the form that consistently saw his Everton side finish in the top parts of the table. Ironically enough, during Moyes’ reign at Everton, he was the one who signed Fellaini on deadline day, and has done it again – to the relief of Manchester United fans.

The player missed out on however was Athletic Bilbao defender  Ander Herrera with some rather amusing claims that impostors were ‘claiming’ to represent the club during negotiations with the Basque club.  The defending Champions have also missed out on left back Leighton Baines, but may have landed Real Madrid player Fabio Coentrao on loan for the season. Clearly Manchester United have done some business – perhaps not the amount we initially thought, but there has been action – and pretty impressive stuff at that.

Fellani will strengthen their team but Ozil would have been a much better acquisition. Still lacking quality in midfield.
