No other club in Europe wanted RooneySo here at La Footyette headquarters, we have been wondering all summer long how the saga surrounding the Angry and Confused one will turn out this summer. Given Jose Mourinho wants Rooney to show exactly how special Chelsea are to him, and the player himself is more than a little bit hesitant to do so, it seems that Rooney could well be staying at Old Trafford for a little while longer.

Despite maybe (or maybe not) handing in a transfer request this summer, and courting Chelsea so openly that had Gareth Bale been paying attention, he would have been a Los Blancos player much sooner, the forward has few options bar remaining at United. His relationship with Fergie may have deteriorated to the point of no return, but it is David Moyes who now picks the team sheet at the club. Yes, RVP may be the forward of choice for Moyes, but the former Everton manager is not stupid and knows Rooney will have a part to play before the end of the season. With that in mind, here are our top five reasons why Rooney will be staying at Old Trafford this season.
